MLKBTCH is a tongue in cheek name born behind the cheese counter with my female co-workers (and friends), where we also cheekily referred to ourselves, in camaraderie, as the milkmaids. It is a who and a what.
The who, is me, Mary. A championer of women in the dairy industry and advocate of the history, culture, and relationship of humans and ruminants. And yeah, maybe I’m a bit more b*tch, than I am maid, but all of my favorite women are.
The what of it all being a dispatch of sorts. Writings, musings, photos, etc. that seek to educate and expound on the profundity of the world and history of cheese and that celebrate the innate aesthetics of it all. In 2021 I received the Daphne Zepos Research Award and since, have been determined to dive ever deeper into the global history and legacy of women and their relation to dairy, and consequently share my findings.
